더 그레잇 컬렉션은 2023년 첫 전시로 색면 추상 작가 윤종주의 개인전 를 개최합니다.
이번 개인전은 그간 작가가 탐구해온 색면을 계절의 시간으로 확장하여 소개합니다.
작가 윤종주는 색과 물성의 온도를 통해 따뜻한 느낌과 감동을 주는 작업에 천착하고 있습니다.

붓으로 그림을 그리는 방식에서 탈피, 캔버스를 바닥에 눕히고 그 위에 물감을 부어 기울이는 방식을 사용합니다. 물감이 층층이 쌓이도록 붓기와 기울이기, 그리고 마르기의 과정을 수차례 반복합니다.
특히 미디움(Medium)이라는 재료를 물감과 혼용하여 회화의 두께감과 입체감을 통해 이미지 너머의 시간을 환기합니다.

이번 전시 는 ‘봄’이라는 계절감을 주요한 화두로 삼아 신작을 선보입니다.
계절이 인식하는 생동감과 자연으로부터 영감을 받은 색채를 통해 긴 겨울을 지난 회복의 정서를 상기합니다.

이는 윤종주 작가가 주요하게 다룬 회복, 위로, 명상의 키워드들과 연결되며 궁극적으로 보이는 것 너머, 회화가 생성하는 감각을 경험하도록 합니다.

The Great Collection presents the first exhibition of the year, Jongju Yoon’s solo show when time has color.
This exhibition introduces Yoon’s continuing color studies inspired by the color palette, tone, and depth of weather.

Jongju Yoon focuses on painting color, using its temperature, warmness, and materiality to convey the experience of the color through human senses.
The process of painting starts on a flat canvas and without using a brush.
The artist selects colors to pour out on the canvas one by one, allowing each color to dry before adding another.
As time passes, the layered colors organically reveal a mystical color.

The canvas surface also becomes thicker due to a medium the artist mixes with the colors.
A medium is a painting material usually used to help paint dry once a painting is finished.
However, Yoon has created a technique that uses a medium to allow her to represent time through colors.
In the painting, the viewer experiences the color and its depth, rather than just seeing its hue.

This exhibition, when time has color, introduces a new series of paintings with the particular theme of spring.
The theme of spring symbolizes newness and refreshment, beginning again after enduring the winter, expressed through Yoon's light green, orange, and red.
Each color has its own nuance of color that is different from regular colors but intuitively symbolizes the soul of spring.
Each color's personality invites the viewer to imagine beyond the color to find the value of the spring soul.

윤종주는 올 오버 회화를 통해 색 면 탐구와 물성 연구를 지속해왔습니다. 구조화된 모듈, 색채와 뉘앙스를 통한 정서, 여백을 통해 형상 너머 내면을 비추는 평면 작업을 추구해왔습니다.

Jongju Yoon lives and works in Daegu. Her signature all-over painting is a minimal, color, abstract style that captures the nuance of temperature, weather, and figure of life.
